Winter Camping

January 17th - 19th

Our winter camping trip this year will be January 17th - 19th, 2020 at Seven Mountains Scout Camp.  We have reserved the upper and lower levels of Eagle Lodge which collectively will hold 64 individuals in bunk beds and includes bathrooms.

Saturday activities will include Klondike Derby preparation, activity areas for advancement, Evening Movie (Down & Derby) and sled-riding if there is enough snow.

For planning purposes we are going to break the weekend into two overnight options and a day only option. While all Scouts and their families are invited for the whole weekend, programming for Friday night through Saturday morning will be geared toward Webelos preparation for Klondike Derby.  Other Scouts can use that time to play games, hike (with an Adult), go sledding or help prepare for Saturday afternoon activities.

There will be free time throughout the weekend for sledding and unstructured play. Weather permitting we may have an "all out" snow ball battle Saturday afternoon / evening on the Parade Field.

Who Can Attend

All Scouts along with parents/guardians are welcome to stay overnight or to be present for daytime activities only.  Other family members are also welcome to stay overnight as long as space is available.  Lion & Tigers Scouts must have at least ONE parent or guardian present throughout per BSA guidelines.

Wolf Scouts and older may attend without a parent under the following conditions:

  • The Scout's parents must make arrangements with another adult to be responsible for the Scout for the entire time the Scout is present. This includes transportation to and from the event.

  • Each adult in attendance my only be responsible for one Scout besides their own children.

  • Arrangements for lone scouts must be made before signing up for the event. Note which adult will be responsible for the Scout in the sign-up.

  • Non-registered youth are not permitted without a parent.

Parking

Families may drive up to the cabin to drop off and pick up gear, however as soon as you are done all vehicles must be moved to the main parking lot (near the maintenance shed).  The camp has been strictly enforcing the rule that we may only have 1 vehicle at the site for emergency purposes. Note that the road to the cabin is unpaved and depending on how soft the ground is, it may not be suitable for all vehicles. Please use common sense and be careful.
